A YEAR IN REVIEW - NOTHING COMPARES!

A Year In Business As Part Of London's Property Management Landscape

As I reflect on our first year at SAMAS Property Management, I can’t believe how quickly it has gone. From our initial launch to finding ourselves managing 18 great sites across London, looking at a year in review, it’s fair to say that the last 13 months have been both challenging and rewarding.

Having devoted over 25 years to the property and block management sectors, I've been fortunate to be exposed to almost everything you can imagine in the industry. You don’t get to become Vice Chair at the Institute of Residential Property Management (IRPM), or a Director at the Property Institute (TPI) without a deep understanding of London and the UK’s ever-evolving property landscape. And of course I am especially proud to have helped to found Doyenne, aimed at empowering women within our industry.

But nothing compares to running your own business in Property Management – both in terms of the challenges you face, and the opportunities that present themselves to do the right thing for your clients.

And also 2022 presented an unforeseen personal challenge with the loss of my dear mother. Balancing profound grief with the rigours of running a fledgling property management firm in London was no small task. It was only the trust and patience from each one of you, our partners and clients, that provided the anchor I needed. I found that my personal brand, cultivated by accident over decades, was not just a professional asset but a compass guiding me through these turbulent times.

I am incredibly proud of everything we have achieved, and the growth we have managed to create – especially given the additional personal challenge of managing my grief.

My key takeaways from this period? Transparency is always paramount. Clear communication with our stakeholders, be they residents, developers, or freeholders in London's block management scene, is invaluable. Harnessing support from professional networks, including the indispensable B-Hive team, can make all the difference.

I launched SAMAS with one clear vision: to revitalise and enhance the standards of property and block management in London. Our mission has always been to serve our diverse clientele, from developers to residents, with unflinching integrity and genuine expertise. A year on, the vision remains the same – but we have some wonderful examples and testimonials to demonstrate that we can do it, and that it matters to our customers.

If you're looking for a new agent, thinking of starting your career in London's property management sector, or just find yourself interested in the industry and its opportunities and challenges, I extend an open invitation for a chat – sharing insights and fostering collaborations lie at the heart of my ethos, and SAMAS’s approach.

As I look ahead to our second year in business, the horizon looks exciting. We have lots of exciting plans and developments to come, and we’re driven to continue setting benchmarks in London's property management arena, innovating solutions, and upholding our shared values.

Thank you for entrusting SAMAS with your property and business, and for all of your trust and support this last year.

Warm regards,

Sam Massey
